Seven Generation is a building that teaches through signage and collaboration with the Colorado State University's Institute for the Built Environment.
We used low VOC paints on the exterior as well as the interior of the building.
We received a variance from the City to lower the light levels on our parking lots because they are concrete instead of asphalt and therefore the optics in your eyes adjust better.
Short Description:
Seven Generations is the first LEED Platinum building in Northern Colorado! It was designed to be very energy efficient (Designed to Energy Star 95), water efficient (uses 43% less indoor water and 86% less landscaping water). 90% of the construction waste was recycled. Solar PV and GreenE provide the electricity and the building is designed to for more solar. GreenE certificates provide the remainder. An underfloor air distribution system provide for a healthier environment as well as saving on utilities. Clerestory windows and 10-17 foot ceilings provide ambient light and a highly productive work space. Finishes include low VOC paints, marmoleum floors, recycled tiles. First occupant of Seven Generations Bldg A
Big Grins, a pediatric dental office, is now in and comfortable at the new Seven Generations building on Eastbrook. We love it! The many windows and excellent floor cooling system makes the atmosphere comfortable and fresh. Our patient families have also responded positively to the new space as well as our efforts to 'go green.' I feel this has been an excellent choice for our new office that will please for years to come. By the way, we used to pay $500 a month electric on our half of a 5500 sq ft building; last month at Seven Gen, the bill was $250 on 4000+ sq ft. Hurray! I can wait for the year end tax deductions.
